Monday Musings…Do You See What I See?

“Look both ways before you cross the street!” I was told. “Keep your eye on the ball!” I was instructed. So much of my childhood was directed to pay attention to what was going on around me. I can honestly say, I probably didn’t heed this advice very well, being more prone to distractions like a squirrel, but at least I had my head up and not buried into my chest looking down at a device. We all have busy lives and it is easy to miss what is going on around us, but it seems the cell phone actually gives us an out from actually connecting with people, in person. If someone is struggling, they are likely to Google their symptoms, maybe find a Reddit forum that talks about it, or even call a h

Monday Musings…Taking a Hack at Life Hacks

You have to admit it - we have it pretty easy. The ‘greatest’ of modern-day inventions are all about convenience. We have ready made meals, dishwashers to clean up after us, vacuum cleaner robots to do the housework for us, heated seats and steering wheels in our vehicles, and the list could go on – those are just a few of the conveniences I enjoy, I confess. But this ‘easy way out’ can have a very dark side, as we saw in the news this week: if we have the right connections and enough money, we can get into college without even trying! But those concerns were never an issue for me. In fact, I looked at each day as an adventure! I’ve always been one to embrace change. It’s been a part of my life from the get go. I moved around almost every three years as a kid. I lived in a new dwelling

Monday Musings….The Man Flu, Fact or Fantasy?

The day started off as normal, but by noon my eyes started burning, my throat got scratchy, and my head started pounding. Within the hour, I felt a fever coming on, followed by the chills. I couldn’t believe it. I had…the man flu. Now, I know what you are thinking. I have no right to this gender specific ailment, being a woman after all, but I’ve done my research, and I honestly think that’s what I had this week. And just like the men who suffer from it, I’m not exaggerating. In December 2017, the British Medical Journal published an article by Canadian Dr. Kyle Sue entitled: “The science behind “man flu” “(BMJ 2017;359:j5560). You see, the man flu legitimately exists. It takes the experienc
